Wicked in every sense of the word

Y’CATCH ON T’ME

Slow and sinister, this track is full of wicked rhymes and a rolling thunder of a story

Amarah at her challenging best, playing a crime siren calling for partners in crime, her voice is once snarling rage, then hard-forks to soulful crooning as she seduces the driver to drive them across Jamaica in a reign of terror. The Beatles’ Baby You Can Drive My Car It Ain’t..

“Like me, The Tapes love all that slow dark Stepper sound from 60s and that” says Amarh, “But also like me they want new sounds to move it more modern, so we not making some artefact, from like, history. We love ON-U Sound and things they made with New Age Steppers, you can feel the influence, but it is new, alive. This is with every thing they make they try to do, we suit each other very well.”

“It was tough to finish the track, we had many different mixes, more acoustic, big band, more stepper. In the end we made the origal the one. More hard, more acid, it suit the lyrics the most.”

“I know I will take some heat for the story, but it is not a glamorisation of crime, it is just a story, there are lives like this, I am just a reporter.”

Every one love a crime story, and so this is that. I don’t have violence in my life, but it doesn’t mean I don’t think it makes for a good way to hook you in

They condemn me for the tongue of witches—

The sweet seduction of the roadworn bitches—

But they can’t comprehend what I is:

Nor the siren swoon of my sunshine kisses.
